Data theft is an increasing concern in this era of cyber criminals and malicious hackers. All of SDL’s products have consistently offered top-shelf protection from external threats, and MultiTrans 2019 is no different, allowing users to monitor who sees documents from within the system, and when. Since files exchanged between the CMS and the TMS are managed via secure information exchange protocols rather than manual processes, there is greater security and less likelihood of errors across the translation supply chain. Within the TMS, you can configure files to never leave your server. Your documents and your data are safe when processed in the secure and monitored channels that SDL MultiTrans 2019 uses.
IT and Security enhancements:
- Support for TLS 1.2, Windows Server 2016 and SQL Server 2016.
- The new File Downloads report identifies documents downloaded through the customer portal – by whom, and from which IP address.
- Potential cross-site scripting vulnerabilities have been identified and blocked.
SDL MultiTrans 2019 – The User Experience
The User Experience (UX) is the cornerstone of any successful software offering. The UX must be focused on making the software intuitive and enjoyable to use while putting more power in the hands of the users than they thought possible. And this is where MultiTrans really shines.
Powerful New Project Management Portal
The project manager portal has undergone a full usability and user experience (UX) review, resulting in a wealth of new features and functionality designed to make it easier to manage complex translation projects. An evolved dashboard gives users instant visibility of anything that needs immediate attention, and searches can be run across any aspect of the translation supply chain. Convenient shortcuts in the “Recent Activity” section mean you can jump directly to the project details, the workflow or the documents directly depending on which shortcut you choose. By clicking on any action in the “To Do” list, or on any other status, a list of relevant projects and tasks is instantly displayed. Alerts are displayed for any project that requires your immediate attention. All this gives project managers a faster way of finding information and solving problems across projects.
Automated Workflows using Connectors
Connectors are also available to a variety of other solutions, including content management systems (CMS), where users can create projects directly from the CMS. Projects can now be delivered to customers automatically from the SDL MultiTrans TMS.
The SDL MultiTrans middleware connector lets users integrate major CMSs (Episerver, DNN, Drupal, Sitecore, Umbraco) with SDL MultiTrans. This means that you can submit content from and reintegrate translations directly within the CMS without having to extract and reintegrate content. Automatic exchange of information between the CMS and the TMS also reduces the likelihood of error and increases the security of the whole translation process. This is because files are managed via secure information exchange protocols rather than manually.
SDL MultiTrans is now connected directly to SDL’s neural machine translation Enterprise Translation Server (ETS), and also to the DeepL and Iconic machine translation engines. For certain types of projects, these technologies can dramatically decrease turnaround time and costs.
The Customer Portal
Users can customize the Customer Portal to provide all the insight they need into their projects without overwhelming them with information–and still maintain a discreet shield around your proprietary processes.

- Spanish is now available as a user language for the Flow interface.
- Improved notifications: task notifications for providers, project manager notifications of new customer contacts, and welcome messages for customers when they log in.
- Productivity enhancements with further automation, from automatic delivery of projects to automatic changes in language direction when translating.
- Customizable notification templates to meet user needs.
- Continuous display of time and time zone to avoid confusion on due dates.
- Quicker, customized audit log generation.
- Purchase order numbers displayed for invoiced projects.
- Default project manager assigned for each customer.
